About me.
Emma Byrne | Art Psychotherapist & Integrative Counsellor
Hi, I’m Emma Byrne, a compassionate and dedicated Art Psychotherapist and Integrative Counsellor. Over the past decade, I’ve worked closely with individuals and families in disability-focused settings, helping them navigate challenges and build resilience. My time in these roles allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the emotional struggles people face and refine many therapeutic tools, long before I became a qualified therapist. Before qualifying as a therapist, I spent several years in teaching and support roles at ChildVision, helping young adults with visual impairments and additional disabilities. These experiences shaped my understanding of human resilience and honed my ability to connect with individuals facing a variety of challenges.
Now, with over two years of professional experience as a therapist, I integrate these insights into my practice, creating a safe, inclusive, and creative space for personal growth and healing.
My Approach
My work blends art therapy and talk therapy to meet each person’s unique needs. I believe that healing is a collaborative process, and my goal is to empower my clients to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or facing the complexities of raising a child with disabilities, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment to help you explore and overcome these experiences. When looking through my services you have the option of art therapy, talk therapy, or trying out a blend of both. It’s always your choice.
My Experience
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of roles that shaped my approach to therapy:
At ChildVision, I initiated and ran a free counselling service for parents raising children with visual impairments and additional disabilities. This service provided emotional support and fostered community through individual sessions and a weekly peer support group. It was an opportunity to help parents develop tools for mental health, resilience, and connection during their challenging journeys.
Prior to this, I worked as a trainee therapist at Insight Matters, where I worked with a wide range of clients over two years. Many of these clients completed long-term therapy successfully, addressing issues like depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and loneliness. I am now back with Insight Matters for my private practice and I am so thrilled to be back in the community again!
In October 2024, I began working with MyMind, a counselling service in Dublin. I was excited to bring my integrative and creative approaches to a new group of clients.
